Big news...

Big news....

Rossiter Designs will be closing down www.Retro-Obsessions.com and www.Crossstitch-Heraldry.com from early 2012, but will still be the owning and operating www.CelticObsessions.com designs.

The main reason for this is lack of time. I'm about to graduate as a Primary School Teacher in mid June 2012 and teaching and work commitments have to take a front seat. I'm also a single mother to three young children so something had to give.

Crossstitch-Heraldry has become so big and frankly I get so many orders I have to spend more and more time designing which I just don't have the time to do.

If you would like to place an order for a coat of arms cross stitch pattern or a custom pattern please do so before January 2012 and I can ensure you have the pattern as soon as possible. Visit www.crossstitch-heraldry.com - due to the amount of orders I will still be operating the facebook page for crossstitch-heraldry so you can still contact me or request custom orders through there and if I have the time I will be available to do custom work then.

Kate Bush - new cross stitch pattern out now!

Wow! What a happy coincidence! I recently finished the next design in the Retro Obsessions range, a Kate Bush cross stitch, and now have found out she's releasing a new album! So very excited! This woman is a huge inspiration for me (since I 'borrowed' my father's Never For Ever album at about 8). Her work is amazing and if you haven't listened to her, climb out from that rock you've been living under and take a list!

Work is progressing on the new Swinging London design although it's been slow work as I've had an eye infection so can read and watch tv but can't seem to stitch well till it clears up. Retro Obsessions soft launch

The Retro Obsessions website is finally getting built with the soft launch this month.

Two patterns are available for purchase now in instant download now:

Retro Robot (1950s) and Three Babies (1940s).

I'm currently working on a new design (1950s) which should be available for purchase very soon.

The next few designs will be 60's and 70's in style with lots of more fun designs to come so stay tuned to the blog to find out when and when.

Three Babies Design finished.

Finally finished my 3 babies design. Now my study is finishing up for this year I will be able to put a few more new designs online. Retro Obsessions will also be launching in December and there are some exciting new developments for Crossstitch-Heraldry so stay tuned!

This pattern will be available to purchase from Retro Obsessions when it launches. There will be different colours numbers available for different hair and eye colours so you can personalise it any way you like to suit your own children, stitch one or all three depending on how many children or grandchildren you have.

The design is based on Mabel Lucie Attewell and is one of many in my new 1950's range. Retro Obsessions will carry many different 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and perhaps some 80's inspired designs.

Finally my university prac in school as finished. I've been busy the last three weeks doing my pre-service teacher training in a primary school. It was very interesting and I learnt a lot but phew am I tired now! Three small children and full-time work/study to not mix well!

Now I have a little more free time to finish the Retro Kids pattern I'm designing - so hopefully I will have photo to show you all soon.

It's been a busy few weeks!

I'm currently undertaking my Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) and have been extremely busy getting an assignment in so my poor stitching as gone by the way side for a bit!

Now my assignment is in it's back to normal and I hope to get the last little child finished on my Retro Obsessions Babies pattern and post a picture soon.

Second baby finished...

I have just finished the second of my babies.

Little Rohan just turned 1 yesterday and is the youngest of my three children. So far I have stitched Katie (2) and Rohan (1), next will be Conor (5).

My Irish Dancing days are long behind me now.. but it kept me fit, allowed me to travel to France to perform at the Inter-Celtic Festival in Brittany and meet some amazing people.

First little baby all stitched up

Well I have finished the first of my three little children.. Katie is all stitched up.

She is a difficult, cheeky, willful and sometimes naughty 2 year old and her stitched counterpart was no difference and gave me no end of problems! However, I'm glad she is finished now and I think she came out quite well.

This is part of my new design inspired by Mable Attwell and is going to be part of my new Retro Obsessions range of designs due for release December 2010 (part of my 1940's children's range).

Now I have to stitch up my two sons next to her! Stay tuned!

News Update...

Quick news update.. Celtic Obsessions will no longer be selling downloads on the website, nor will we be selling mail order direct from the Celtic Obsessions website.

There are several reasons for this but the main reason is Clare at Celtic Cross Stitch & Craft will be selling our designs at her site. Clare as many years experience selling Celtic patterns and has stocked Celtic Obsessions designs for a long time so this is a natural progression to our retail sales.

Clare has a great online store selling all sorts of Celtic patterns and designs I recommend you take a visit www.celticcrossstitchandcrafts.com. You can view our full range of designs there and purchase them mail order direct from Clare.

Also, many of our designs will soon be available in kit form from Clare so stay tuned!

Celtic Cross

I lived in a tiny village called Ardmayle near Cashel, Co Tipperary in rural Ireland for 5 years. It's a tiny village with a huge castle called the Rock of Cashel (worth a look if you happen to be passing through).

Ireland provided me with much inspiration for my designs. The Celtic Cross in the middle of the village of Cashel gave me inspiration for my Cashel Celtic Cross pattern, available at the Celtic Obsessions website.

I spent much time sitting in a rural cottage (pic below), pregnant, stitching and designing.

It was a period in my life which involved much inspiration taken from living in rural Ireland and having my first child.

It wasn't the most exciting time...but it was the birth of many of Celtic Obsessions designs.

I just want to say how much I'm enjoying blogging.. I never realised, in all my time designing cross stitch and selling my designs online, what a huge blogging cross stitch community there really is out there.

I'm loving meeting fellow cross stitchers and once I start blog hopping I can't seem to stop! It's lovely jumping from one blog to another to see what exciting cross stitch designs are out there. So much inspiration!

You may have noticed a slight name change for this blog from Rossiter Designs to Stephanie's Designs.

My father suggested the name change and I agree so have made the change although the blog is still called Rossiter Designs in the url (hope this isn't confusing!). 'Flynn' is my married name and so most people in the cross stitch community know me as 'Stephanie Flynn' as I have been designing under that name for over 7 years, however, 'Rossiter' is my maiden name and I'd like to use it more to showcase all my designs online including Celtic Obsessions, Crossstitch-Heraldry and my new range in production (more on that soon!).

I also thought I'd post a photo of one of my older stitching projects. I found an old box in a junk shop one day.. removed the inside lid and stitched a Celtic picture inside. The design is all done with tiny split stitch. Hope you like it?
